Elmer graduated from Narraguagus High School. He retired from a 30 year career as a State trooper. Mr. Farren was an instructor at the police academy for 27 of those 30 years. He taught various skills at the Maine Army National Guard headquarters and worked with the Washington County Sheriff's Department. He was most recently the town police officer for Eastport. Elmer has maintained a CDL license since 1990. He has driven for Bluebird Ranch, the National Guard and other trucking companies. He is currently fully licensed by the State of Maine as a Class A instructor. He will not only teach CDL at the CTE Center but he also teaches part time as Class A trucking instructor for WCCC. After high school, she earned her Associate's Degree and transferred to SUNY Cobleskill, earning her Associates in Fisheries and Wildlife Technology, and Bachelor's Degree in Aquaculture and Fisheries, and then her Master's in Teaching at Eastern Connecticut State University. After obtaining her aquaculture degree, Robin worked at an outdoor summer camp in North Carolina teaching kids all about North Carolina's wildlife. She then moved to West Virginia to serve an AmeriCorps term with the US Forest Service as a fisheries and snorkel technician for a year. Robin moved to Boise, Idaho to serve another AmeriCorps term with the Boise Urban Garden School. She returned to Connecticut to earn her Master's Degree in Elementary Education and cross-endorsed in secondary biology and agriculture education. She moved to Maine in November of 2020. Managing their blueberry land, maintaining buildings at their grocery store, take out, and trailer park, Chris had lots of opportunities to teach himself how to build and fix anything that wasn’t working properly. While still working for his parents, Chris graduated from the University of Maine at Machias in 1986 with an Associates Degree in Business Management. In 1995, Chris took his love for learning new things to Bayshore Steel Detailing, where he learned about structural steel detailing on automated and SDS/2 systems. In 2001, Chris started his own structural steel detailing business, H&L Sprague Inc., and was able to work from home while his wife, Lauren, homeschooled their two daughters, Hannah and Lydia. In 2011, Chris took a new job as the vocational trades instructor at Downeast Correctional Facility. His love for people made teaching in the trades an easy fit for him. Mr. Howell was a lifelong resident of Ohio until he moved to Maine in June 2007. While in Ohio, he received his High School Diploma from Northwestern High School in Springfield and a .B.A. in Biology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He graduated from the 50th Basic Police School, the Law-Medicine Center, Case Western Reserve University which are also located in Cleveland. In addition to his list of talents, Mr. Howell has a long list of professional achievements. In June of 1976, Mr. Howell began full time work with the Sheriff’s Office, dual trained for jail or patrol work, and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant December 21, 1981. As a dual-trained Shift Supervisor Jim was transferred as needed between the Jail and the Uniform Patrol Divisions, occasionally assisting the Special Investigations Unit, Training and Education unit, Communications and Auxiliary Services. In lieu of CSI or Investigation Bureau Detectives at non-fatal crime scenes, completed evidence collection with measurements, finger-printing, specimen and evidence collection, and scene photography. His last day of work was August 6, 1999, with an official retirement April 1, 2000. Mr. Tyler has lived in Addison all of his life and is a 2001 graduate of Narraguagus High School. After graduation, he attended Washington County Community College in Calais and received a certificate in Engine Specialist. In 2003, he returned for another year and received an Associate Degree in Applied Science majoring in General Technology. Mr. Tyler has been employed by Tyler Marine since 1998 as a Diesel Mechanic working on lobster boats and heavy equipment. He has also been a Commercial Lobster Fisherman working the summer and fall seasons since 2000. He is currently serving a second term on the lobster zone council for Zone A and is harbor committee member for the Town of Addison.
